Life Feeling Busy? Try These 3 Simple Practices to help reduce Stress
Life can feel like a whirlwind sometimes—our minds constantly jumping to what may or may not happen in the future. This endless loop can lead to a build-up of stress in both the body and mind. In my classes, I love to share techniques for releasing stress and finding balance because I feel we all need a bit more calm in our lives. Here are a few simple practices you can try anytime—whether at home, in a queue, or just before bed. I hope they bring you a moment of release.
1. Coherent Breathing
This breathing technique helps balance your nervous system and reduce stress. Inhale and exhale for the same count (try 4, 5, or 6 counts,) in and out through the nose if you can, repeating for a few rounds. This activates the body's relaxation response, slowing your heart rate and calming your mind. Try this before bed or any time you need to feel grounded.
2. Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR)
With PMR, you focus on tensing and then relaxing each muscle group in the body. Start with your toes and move up to your head, holding tension for about 5 seconds before releasing. This practice can help reduce tension and increase your body awareness. It’s an effective way to unwind anytime stress creeps in.
3. Simple Yoga Postures
Bringing gentle movement to your body can help shift stagnant energy and break negative thought cycles. Depending on your energy, you could shake out your limbs, try a calming forward bend, or feel empowered with a strong Warrior pose. Even a few minutes of movement can make a big difference.
Let me know how you get on with these. I share these practices and more in my classes and workshops:
Hope to see you soon,
