let’s talk about stress!

You may notice that much of what I share is to support reducing stress through yoga and meditation. These practices help us regulate our nervous system to cultivate calm, support emotional balance, deepen our connection between mind and body, and build our inner resource to help us be in this hectic world!

Stress isn’t always a bad thing. We actually need a bit of good stress (known as eustress) to get stuff done, stay motivated, and show up when it counts. When we experience stress, our body releases hormones like adrenaline and cortisol, activating the 'fight or flight' response of the nervous system. This sharpens our focus and gives us a burst of energy to deal with immediate demands.

But problems begin when stress stops being occasional and becomes a daily thing. That’s when it can wear us down, leaving us tired, anxious, and not feeling our best. While we might not always be able to change what’s going on around us, yoga and meditation can give us the tools to work on how we respond to it and help avoid chronic stress.

Even short, simple practices can help regulate our nervous system, bringing us out of fight-or-flight (the sympathetic state) and back into rest-and-digest (the parasympathetic state).

The more we practice this, the more our nervous system learns it’s safe to slow down—and that can make a huge difference in how we handle stress over time.
